This custom home on a tight site replaced a Victorian era dwelling destroyed by fire. Zoning complications were avoided by building the first phase within the existing non-conforming footprint. A second portion was added that conformed to the setback requirements. The program included living spaces sized to accommodate the existing furnishings, an attached garage, four second floor bedrooms, and a walk-up attic designed for expansion. The new home was planned for the owner’s prized stained glass window that was relocated from her former home and became the focal point of the new stair hall and the front elevation.
