Groups

The process of learning issues, working through design alternatives, and reaching consensus within myriad institutional groups is core element of our success. End users, facilities personnel, design engineers, and senior management all contribute to this interactive process.

Listening

All stakeholders have a contribution to make in a collaborative design process. Tuning in to each of the various voices and learning their unique vision for the project helps us develop balanced design solutions. Understanding the essential mission guides and directs this process.

Collaboration

We embrace the mission of the institution and the project goals as our own. We bring our design talents and creative solutions to the table within this framework. Our success comes from our ability to balance the desires of all the stakeholders within that overall mission.

TESTIMONIALS

Thank you everyone for delivering a wonderful building. Happy Thanksgiving hope you enjoy family and friends.
— Marlou Batt | Lesley University
Fantastic job this weekend at the Charrette, I feel like we received a lot of direction and ideas from the membership.
— Craig Garrett | Winchester Boat Club
We recently completed a complex, fast-paced institutional renovation project with Harrison Mulhern Architects. Throughout the process Chris and his team proved to be knowledgeable, responsive, and easy to work with. They understood intuitively when to demand strict adherence to the design and when deviation from the proposed plan was necessary accommodate existing conditions. We look forward to continuing our relationship with HMA, as their thoughtful designs and collaborative approach allow us to build to our full potential and ensure that our clients will be satisfied at project end.

 Who We Work With

We do it all

End Users

From individual professors to department heads to renovation committees, we work to understand and quantify the needs of the end users of our projects. Careful listening, collaborative research, group design exercises and solid documentation provide a strong base for our design process. Feedback at each stage of the project helps keep us in tune with the big picture goals.

Facilities Team

The detailed knowledge of an institution’s facilities resides with the facilities team. By tapping into that knowledge base, Harrison Mulhern Architects is able to build on what has been done well in the past and avoid prior pitfalls. An on-going dialog during pre-design, design and construction phases yields a close alignment of the end product with the institution’s facility goals and design standards.

Senior Management

Charged with safeguarding the institution’s mission and managing the project budget, senior management plays a vital role in the design process. Their input, along with that of the facilities team, is crucial from the early conceptual planning through the ribbon cutting ceremony.
