Christopher Harrison Mulhern
Chris is the founder and sole principal of Harrison Mulhern Architects. His interest in the built world started when he was very young and was encouraged by this parents, who showed him that architecture, at the confluence of art and engineering, would be a great fit for his interests and abilities. Educated at the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Chris has been practicing professionally since 1974 and is licensed to practice in four states. The entire design and construction process is of interest to Chris, with particular emphasis on the initial conceptual design phase and the detailing of the building envelope. Figuring out how to transform an architectural concept into a buildable and sustainable structure and finding the best way to communicate that information to the builders is an ever-changing challenge. Richard Neutra, Lou Kahn and Santiago Calatrava are among his architectural heroes. In addition to his project responsibilities, Chris handles the administrative side of the business, including business development, accounting, and human resources. Outside the office, Chris is a Director of the Winchester Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Winchester Rotary Club, and a founding Director of the Winchester Community Service Foundation, a local non-profit dedicated to promoting service learning and community service in the local school system. Chris is married with three children and two step children. He is passionate about skiing, both on snow and on water. Other interests include hiking, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, travel, woodworking and photography.
